W+A Substrat für "Vulcano" Zürich
Auf den 80 Meter hohen Wohntürme «Vulcano» in Zürich Altstetten, wurde während 3 Tage das Weiss+Appetito Substrat und Kies auf die Flachdächer und den Sockelbau geblasen für eine extensive Begrünung.
<div>Aus dem Klettgau nach Zürich fahren – ohne ein Lichtsignal passieren zu müssen. Das ist dank des Galgenbucktunnels dereinst möglich. Im zweispurigen Tunnel umfährt der Verkehr dann Neuhausen am Rheinfall. Die Arbeiten auf Schaffhausens grösster Baustelle sind in vollem Gange. Die Betonarbeiten im und um den Tunnel sind abgeschlossen und der Rohbau ist vom Bundesamt für Strassen (Astra) abgenommen. Damit beginnt nun quasi der Endspurt für den Galgenbucktunnel. Nun machen sich die Bauarbeiter an den Innenausbau: Lüftung, Elektronik, die Sicherheitsanlagen und Wasserleitungen werden installiert. Diese Arbeiten kosten noch einmal rund 20 Millionen Franken Allerdings scheint der Bau insgesamt günstiger zu kommen, als die ursprünglich geplanten 240 Millionen Franken. An einem Medienrundgang am Donnerstag hiess es, man unterschreite die Kosten um fast 10 Prozent. Nicht nur bei den Finanzen, auch bezüglich Bauzeit laufen die Arbeiten im Galgenbuck wie geplant. Voraussichtlich im November 2019 kann der neue, rund ein Kilometer lange Tunnel eröffnet werden. Bis dahin warten im Galgenbuck neben den Innenarbeiten auch noch umfangreiche Tests, also Störungs- und Brandsimulationen</div>
Das Parkhaus in Betten Talstation hat neben den offenen Parkplätzen für die Bettmeralp und für die Aletsch Arena eine wichtige Bedeutung, da die Bettmeralp autofrei ist. Die Weiss+Appetito Spezialdienste AG sorgt für die optimale Dachbegrünung und bläst Substrat auf das Fachdach des Parkhauses.

Loveresse sewage treatment plant
<div>Weiss+Appetito AG keeps the Loveresse sewage treatment plant in good working order. The Loveresse sewage treatment plant has been operating since the 1980s. In recent years, the fabric of the building began to show signs of this long operating period. To ensure that the plant could continue to function, the various ponds had to be fully reconstructed as a measure to preserve value. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>1. What is W+A doing in this project?<br /></b></span>Development and installation of NSN 3G system technology. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>The client sends us an order (PO) for a site. The site is inspected by the team with regard to specific preconditions such as special access, lifting platforms, work safety and is then planned into the schedule for a team. The team then installs the system technology on site and integrates it with the help of NSN RICs. Finally, the client is presented with comprehensive documentation and the invoice for the site. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project?</b><br /></span>We install 2 to 4 network elements per week. 2 teams are at work, whereby the number of engineers in the team varies between 2 and 4 depending on the amount of work on site and the weekly volume of assignments. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. Special assignments?</b><br /></span>NSN contacts us directly in the event of problems and failures in Telekom's live network. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>5. What is W+A doing in this project?</b><br /></span>We are installing new or replacing old PDH (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) and SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) directional radio links on behalf of Telefonica. We are using system technology from SIAE and Huawei for this project. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>The first step is a building site inspection (BSI). The second step is a swap or new build of the directional radio installation. The third step consists of a clean-up. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project? </b><br />We install up to 26 directional radio links per week working with 4-5 teams (4 and 2 engineers per team = 12 engineers) and a BSI team (2 engineers). These activities are coordinated by my colleague Mike Berke and myself. </span> <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. What is W+A doing in this project?<br /></b></span>I supervise/coordinate planning activities for new constructions and extensions to mobile phone sites of the network operators Vodafone and Telefonica using technology from Huawei and Ericsson.&nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. Site conversion comprised swapping the existing technology and upgrading to LTE in each case. Planning always takes existing deficiencies and energy efficiency into consideration. Converting a site can cost up to EUR 100k. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?<br /></b></span>From design to commissioning. <ul><li>Draw up a planning proposal. On receipt of a PO, see point 2.</li><li>Building site inspection (BSI) for planning purposes.</li><li>Drawing up a draft plan (DP) and the BSI report.</li><li>On approval of the DP by the client: development of the execution plan (EP) whereby the EP must take changes into account.</li><li>On approval of the EP: construction approval and compilation of the proposal for construction.</li><li>Additional materials and, where indicated, the steel and a crane/lifting platform are ordered after receipt of the building's specifications. A construction schedule for executing the work is drawn up at the same time. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>1. What is W+A doing in this project?</b> &nbsp;<br /></span>&quot;Modernisation&quot; of technology on-site through swapping all of the components. The SRAN solution entails replacing the main line to the antennae with fibre optic cables and then using a short section of hollow copper wave guide known as a &quot;jumper&quot; as the main technology (RRU) is located at the top of the mast. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>The client (Vodafone) appoints Huawei to &quot;modernise&quot; the installation, i.e. swap the technology. Huawei then develops a site solution (conversion) in cooperation with us as a partner that is then implemented cluster by cluster in accordance with a communicated schedule (the sequence is defined by Vodafone).&nbsp; As Huawei's strong and reliable partner, Weiss + Appetito takes care of every aspect including logistics, planning, crane deployment, installation, commissioning and documentation. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project?</b><br /></span>Around 1,200 sites with close to 2,000 individual network elements (2G &amp; 3G). <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. Special assignments?</b><br /></span>The swap at the VW plant with a subsequent email of thanks for the smooth organisation and coordination with Volkswagen AG and its technology that is integrated in the system. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>5. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>The client sends us an order (PO) for a site. The site is inspected by the team with regard to specific preconditions such as special access, lifting platforms, work safety and is then planned into the schedule for a team. The team then installs the system technology on site and integrates it with the help of Huawei RICs. Finally, the client is presented with comprehensive documentation and the invoice for the site. &nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project?</b><br /></span>We install between 20 and 40 network elements per week. 10 teams are at work, whereby the number of engineers in the team varies between 8 and 14 depending on the amount of work on site and the weekly volume of assignments. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. These stations will usually provide LTE technology services to the end customer when our work is done. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>The Sunrise network plan is the basis. As soon as it is disclosed to us, we send our engineers on site surveys to analyse the installations on site, define the technical solutions and, where indicated, plan any additional building work. The actual extension takes place after an engineering phase that takes place in-house and at Huawei. Teams of two to four engineers travel to the installations, convert the site to LTE technology and integrate them in the Sunrise network. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project?</b><br /></span>We had around 600 major integration assignments in 2015. Then there are antenna swaps, site surveys and many minor special assignments. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. Special assignments?</b><br /></span>The need for coordination increases exponentially whenever larger construction work is required to install additional antennae, base stations, RRUs, etc. The challenge is to get absolutely everything spot on. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>5. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?</b><br /></span>After receiving the assignment, we carry out a site survey to verify the proposed building specifications and submit a proposal for implementation. The customer uses the proposal to order material. A team of four then replaces the old beam radio with the new technology, working simultaneously on two installations. &nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. How big is the project?</b><br /></span>300 links per year, i.e. we convert around 550 installations per year. <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4. What is W+A doing in this project?<br /></b></span>We have been building the fibreglass backbone network for Sunrise since the autumn of 2015.<br />Our job is to develop Sunrise's network infrastructure using the latest&nbsp; DWDM technology.<br />We install and commission the corresponding network elements. &nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?<br /></b></span>A roll-out plan is developed in coordination with the client. We then receive the network design and the hardware from the client. Installation work is based exclusively on specifications provided by Sunrise.<br />The trick to mastering this project is to quickly understand the complex design specifications and deploy technicians efficiently to meet the specified deadlines. &nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>3. Special assignments?<br /></b></span>Migrating services during the night. This involves converting various telecom services that are mainly used by Sunrise's large end customers. &nbsp; <span lang="EN-GB"><b>4.
