Redesign and reconstruction of the Eigerplatz in Bern

Work to reconstruct and redesign the Eigerplatz began on 22 April 2016:  we are transforming the Eigerplatz into an attractive centre for this district of the city. The intensive phase began during the 2016 summer holidays and will last until autumn 2016, with completion scheduled for late summer 2017.  

Project description

  • Tram track drainage as a major element of the overall urban drainage system
  • New installation of DN 200 - DN 400 steel pipes for water and gas over a length of 1,045 m
  • Installation of DN 80 - 125 lines for the supply of district heat over a length of 930 m
  • 1,200 m of pipeline including hydrants in the plastic or PE range, from AD 110 - AD 225
