LTE Full SRAN Implementation Planung, CW&TI (D)

1. What is W+A doing in this project?
Until its conversion to the Delta project (April 2015), the project involved the implementation of LTE full SRAN sites. Site conversion comprised swapping the existing technology and upgrading to LTE in each case. Planning always takes existing deficiencies and energy efficiency into consideration. Converting a site can cost up to EUR 100k.

2. What is the approach to or course of action for tackling such an assignment?
From design to commissioning.

  • Draw up a planning proposal. On receipt of a PO, see point 2.
  • Building site inspection (BSI) for planning purposes.
  • Drawing up a draft plan (DP) and the BSI report.
  • On approval of the DP by the client: development of the execution plan (EP) whereby the EP must take changes into account.
  • On approval of the EP: construction approval and compilation of the proposal for construction.
  • Additional materials and, where indicated, the steel and a crane/lifting platform are ordered after receipt of the building's specifications. A construction schedule for executing the work is drawn up at the same time. All the required materials, technology and external services should be available by the start of construction.
  • Development of weekly plans for the construction team.
  • Draw up the documentation and, after the client's acceptance inspection, remedy defects
  • Billing after approval by the customer.

3. How big is the project?
From 2012 to date: Sites:  approx. 140 in 3 regions (North-West, Rhine-Main, South-West).

4. Special assignments?
Procurement of additional external services such as technology.

5. What characterises W+A in this project?
Close cooperation with our client Ericsson in the Vodafone network.

6. Impact on the daily life of Joe Public?
Retrofitting LTE technology results in improved network quality for end consumers. The extension work has improved data speed rates.   7. A look ahead to the future …
