The Westside parking garage, an indispensable part of the shopping center, not only offers visitors from the region convenient parking facilities, but also a pleasant shopping experience. Water containing chloride entered the underground parking garage through the entrance of vehicles. Over time, leaks allowed chlorides to penetrate the concrete. The chloride-induced floor build-up not only endangered the external appearance of the floor, but also the long-term stability of the parking garage. It was therefore decided to partially renovate the parking garage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our work began with the construction of dust protection walls to protect the rest of the parking garage from dust emissions. Our top priority was the indoor environment in the operational parking garage to ensure a pleasant shopping experience for customers throughout the refurbishment process. Once protection from dust emissions was established, our team removed fixed components such as the cart park and kerbs. Sensitive electronic equipment, including fire alarms, was carefully secured and covered to prevent damage during the refurbishment works. Four air blowers were also installed for ventilation, with one of them using an approx. 85m long hose to transport the dusty air outside.<\/p>\n

This was followed by precise milling of the old floor covering, removing the epoxy coating with scattering, including 1.8 centimetres from the concrete ceiling. We identified and repaired hollow areas and prepared the floor for the next steps by shot-blasting. Thorough cleaning concluded the preparatory work.<\/p>\n

A new leveling layer was applied to accommodate the new final flooring (epoxy paving). This step was crucial to protect the concrete floor and its reinforcement from chloride damage and to ensure long-term structural stability. The bedding was then spread and the excess was later vacuumed off again. Finally, the coating was applied in the appropriate colors to achieve a harmonious overall appearance.<\/p>\n
