Josef Muff AG, our pipeline construction experts, are working flat out to complete the project. Shil-Zurichsee relief tunnel to optimally prepare the tunnel boring head for the upcoming drilling work. This special cutterhead will play a crucial role in the drilling of the Shil-Zurichsee tunnel, which is around two kilometers long. With an impressive diameter of 7.5 meters and a weight of over 120 tons, the drill head is roughly equivalent to the weight of eighty average cars.
Welding work with precision
Precision work comes first - from flame cutting to grinding. Around 500 tons of steel with sheet thicknesses of 30 to 80 mm are waiting to be carefully welded together.
Two shifts and 24/7 operation
The work schedule is carefully thought out: In the first four weeks, work is carried out in 2-shift operation from 06:00 to 02:30. This is followed by 5 weeks of continuous operation in an impressive 24/7 rhythm. This targeted work structure makes it possible to progress along this fascinating path with confidence and determination.
