Anyone who knows the Birg intermediate station knows that it's not just a stop on the way to the Schilthorn, it's all about adventure and panoramic views. The famous Thrill Walk, the glass-bottomed walkway with a view into the depths and the open platform make every visitor feel the thrill. It was precisely at this special location that our concrete specialists at Pegrila AG were able to make an important contribution to the Schilthornbahn 20XX project.
At 2677 meters above sea level, the team from Pegrila AG poured around 5.5 cubic metres of ultra-high-performance fibre-reinforced concrete (UHPC) with plastic fibers. The result is a 160 square meter outdoor area that secures access to the Birg station in the long term and strengthens the alpine infrastructure.
Working at the limit
The conditions at this altitude are never easy. Strong winds, temperature fluctuations and challenging material transportation presented the team with special challenges. With experience, perseverance and precision, they managed to achieve a perfect result even under alpine conditions.
Part of Schilthornbahn 20XX
The Schilthornbahn 20XX represents the future of the mountain railroad. Shorter travel times, more capacity and year-round access will make the Schilthorn even more attractive for guests. The new cable car Pegrila AG The area realized on Birg is a visible contribution to this pioneering overall project.

The project could only be implemented thanks to close cooperation with strong partners. Together with Gerber + Troxler Bau AG, Theiler Ingenieure AG, Indermühle Bauingenieure and brügger architekten ag, a solution was created that is technically convincing and does justice to the special location.
