Green crowning glory for a lighthouse project: we were allowed to blow the substrate onto the roof of the new Festhalle Bern, which is not only ecologically convincing, but also makes a strong architectural statement.
From mid-September to mid-December, we processed around 1,000 m³ of substrate and 16/32 round gravel - with millimetre precision and in harmony with the ongoing work on and around the roof. The distribution of the substrate on the hall roof was logistically challenging and required the utmost precision in planning and implementation.
Logistics on the roof: coordination meets precision
The "Festhalle Bern green roof" project was characterized by close coordination between a wide range of trades: while we were working on the roof, solar system installers, roofers, ventilation and scaffolding fitters were on site at the same time. Work on the surrounding area also ran in parallel - a real test of organization and team spirit.
Thanks to precise scheduling and close coordination with the construction management and all partners involved, we were able to complete the green roof on time and efficiently - and with a powerful team of just three employees on the roof.
Sustainability meets architecture: the green flat roof of the Festhalle Bern
The new green roof of the Festhalle Bern fulfills several functions at once: It has a heat-insulating effect, improves the microclimate, supports biodiversity and provides natural rainwater retention - real added value for people and the environment. The roof thus becomes the ecological calling card of the entire building.

With this project, we were once again able to show that modern infrastructure and environmentally friendly construction go hand in hand.
