Coop Jumbo Oberburg: Floors that can withstand everyday life

The Coop Jumbo Oberburg project was not just about architecture or the choice of materials. It was about designing the floor underfoot so that it could withstand everyday use. This is exactly where our Flooring+Surfacing team came into play. Together with the specialists from Prima Sol, we implemented functional, durable and visually strong floor surfaces.

The building itself combines a two-storey timber structure with a solid basement. This is where the parking areas are located, among other things. It was clear to us that the requirements in the different areas were different, and the flooring solutions had to be too.

Tana-Seal for sales and delivery zones

Exposed hard concrete with a silicate impregnation was used in the central areas of the new building, the sales area and the delivery area. A total area of 3200 square meters was laid. The surface was specially treated and sanded to the grain so that the floor is both visually and technically impressive.

Grinding brings out the structure of the concrete. At the same time, a hard-wearing surface is created that is ideally suited for high-traffic areas. The subsequent finishing and impregnation with Tana-Seal provide additional protection and support rapid construction progress.

Epoxy resin bedding for the parking zone

In the parking zone, the focus was on safety and resilience. Here a Epoxy resin bedding processed with quartz sand. Covering an area of 4,400 square meters, this surface ensures optimum slip resistance while withstanding high mechanical loads.

In parking areas in particular, it is crucial that the floor is not only durable, but also resistant to abrasion, pressure and impact. This is exactly what this solution is ideal for.

Two materials, one functioning system

What distinguishes the floor in the Coop Jumbo Oberburg is the sophisticated combination of two systems. Exposed hard concrete where a strong appearance is required and where there is a high load. Epoxy resin flooring where safety and durability have priority.

Advantages in interaction:

  • Fair-faced hard concrete: durable, easy to clean, visually high-quality
  • Epoxy resin flooring: non-slip, robust, resilient

The total area of 7600 square meters is the visible result of this clear zoning.

Cooperation that works

The implementation was a team effort. Thanks to the close collaboration between our Floors+Surfacings team and Prima Sol the surfaces could be completed efficiently and precisely. From the material to the last joint: every work step was coordinated. You can see that in the result.
