You rarely think about them, but when they don't work, you notice it immediately: floors in heavily used commercial areas have to withstand a lot. This is exactly what a project by Makro Art AG in Grosswangen was all about. The company was looking for a solution for a concrete surface measuring around 580 square meters that was heavily soiled and difficult to clean. Tana-Seal, a mineral silicate impregnation specially developed for such requirements, was used.
The renovation was to take place during ongoing operations - without restricted zones and without major interruptions. The whole project was coordinated by Pegrila AG and implemented by PrimaSol, a company from our Group.
The solution: silicate impregnation with Tana-Seal
A mineral silicate impregnation was used, more precisely Tana-Seal. The difference to conventional coatings is quickly explained. Tana-Seal does not form a layer that lies on the floor, but is absorbed deep into the surface. This means that the concrete remains breathable and the protective effect comes from within.
This also means: no bubbles, no flaking, no visible layers that have to be renewed after a few years.
What this brings to everyday life
In this specific case, the benefits were quickly visible and noticeable:
- The area was usable again after about twelve hours
- There was no need for a barrier
- The surface is now impermeable to pressurized water, resistant to chemicals and much easier to clean
- Gloss level, color and slip resistance could be adjusted as required
Also ecologically sensible
The silicate impregnation used is completely solvent-free. It is VOC-free, water-based and recyclable. Especially for surfaces that are cleaned and used on a daily basis, this makes a difference for the environment, but also for everyone who has to work with them.
Cooperation that works
The Pegrila AG coordinated the project, PrimaSol took over the execution and Makro Art was able to keep operations running as normal in the meantime. This is how you imagine a clean solution: practical, coordinated, with hands and feet.
Why mineral systems like TanaSeal are convincing
Anyone who has ever had to deal with classic coatings knows that they look good at first, but need care and tend to crack or wear over time. Silicate impregnations work differently. They bond with the substrate, are easy to apply and do not require aggressive pre-treatment.
This is a simple and effective solution for heavily used surfaces in existing buildings. No repainting, no expensive downtime, but a protective effect that lasts.
