From May to July 2025, we carried out targeted crack injections and concrete repairs in a housing estate in Zurich. The aim was to secure the existing building fabric and prepare it for façade renovation. The refurbishment was part of the building maintenance - where it is barely visible but has a big impact.
Crack injections are one of the more complex methods of repair in concrete construction. What is barely visible later makes all the difference in the end: the targeted sealing of fine cracks protects the concrete from moisture and other environmental influences in the long term. Before the work could begin, the affected areas were carefully prepared. Each area was cleaned and the packers - six to seven in each section - were precisely positioned. They create the connection between the surface and the inside of the concrete and ensure that the injection material is distributed evenly.
Material that thinks for itself
A two-component PUR injection resin was used. It spreads slowly and evenly, which enables controlled application. Inside the concrete, the material cross-links, remains elastic and provides a permanent seal. This property is particularly important when temperatures or humidity fluctuate greatly. A total of 50 kilograms of resin was used. The result is a compacted, robust structure that reliably keeps out moisture and extends the service life of the building fabric.
Care in every step of the process
After the injection, all treated areas were checked and, where necessary, reworked. It was not only the function that counted, but also the appearance. The surfaces were then prepared for the façade renovation. This created a harmonious transition between repair and refurbishment.
A contribution to the long-term preservation of buildings
This project shows how targeted measures can help to preserve the substance of a building in the long term. Experience, knowledge of materials and clean execution lead to a result that is effective - unobtrusive but sustainable. For us, the focus is always on preserving what already exists, with care and responsibility.
