CREASOL Colorquarz, 225 m² seamless floor for the staff cafeteria

CREASOL Colorquarz was the focal point in the refurbishment of the staff cafeteria of the Fehlmann AG in Seon. Following water damage, a solution was required that not only provided a new surface, but also made the floor structure permanently functional. In areas with high frequency and increased moisture exposure, particularly in the kitchen, impermeability, cleanability and durability are key criteria.

Between December 2025 and February 2026, 225 m² of the floor structure was renewed. In addition to the surface area, the focus was on the professional execution of the sealing in the kitchen area and the formation of the connections to the floor, wall and kitchen elements.

Replacement system after water damage

Water damage requires a precise assessment of the substrate and construction details. In a cafeteria, the floor is constantly exposed to mechanical loads and regular cleaning processes. In the kitchen area, there is also increased exposure to water and media.

Against this background, clear requirements were defined: a seamless design, chemical resistance and a systematic structure that functions reliably in the long term. CREASOL Colorquartz was chosen as the replacement system, partly due to the positive experience with the previous floor and the objective of restoring this level of quality.

225 m² design with focus on kitchen and connection details

The project covered the entire floor area of the staff cafeteria. A key focus was on the critical details: the sealing in the kitchen area and the safe design of the transitions on the floor, wall and kitchen elements.

These areas are crucial for long-term impermeability and hygienic cleaning. Accordingly, the connection details were not treated as downstream work, but as an integral part of the execution planning and implementation.

System structure: Insulation, quick-drying hard concrete, 4-layer structure

A load-bearing, coordinated substructure is required for the pavement to function properly. The structure was implemented in layers:

  • Insulation as part of the new construction
  • Quick-drying hard concrete as a load-bearing base
  • Substrate preparation by shot blasting
  • 4-layer CREASOL Colorquarz system structure as wear layer

This structure ensures the conditions for a resilient surface and supports rapid restoration of usability.

Material principle: CREASOL Colorquarz as a bedding layer

CREASOL Colorquarz is an epoxy resin-based infill coating. Colored quartz sand is sprinkled into the fresh binder layer, creating a uniform, textured surface. After hardening, excess quartz is removed. This is followed by transparent top coats and a sealant for additional surface protection.

The result is a closed wear layer that is suitable for heavily frequented indoor areas and offers particular advantages for regular wet cleaning and exposure to cleaning agents.

Benefits in operation: hygiene, durability, safe details

The following advantages in particular arise for use in the staff cafeteria:

  • Hygienic cleaning thanks to seamless design
The seamless surface reduces potential weak points where dirt and moisture can collect, making daily cleaning easier.
  • Chemical resistance in the cleaning process
The resistance to cleaning agents helps to maintain the surface permanently during operation.
  • Permanent safety at crossings
The sealing in the kitchen area and the professionally executed connections to the floor, wall and kitchen elements minimize the risk of moisture ingress in critical zones.
