In December 2025, we were able to implement a flooring project in Kerzers that not only involved a lot of space, but also a great deal of detail. A modern vinyl floor with a tile look was laid over 235 square meters. There was also a staircase with 98 steps, where every edge had to be perfect. From substrate preparation and installation to the finished surface, the focus was on precision and durability throughout.
To achieve the desired result, the subfloor was prepared with 850 kilograms of levelling compound and 460 kilograms of stable filler. The floor was glued with around 72 kilograms of glue - an effort that is worthwhile if the goal is a smooth, permanently beautiful overall appearance.
Tile look without tiles - the clever alternative
The vinyl flooring is visually reminiscent of concrete or stone slabs, without their typical disadvantages. The large format ensures a modern appearance, while the matt surface and subtle joint effect create a calm spatial effect. Those who opt for a Vinyl flooring in tile look, you get the look of stone with the comfort of a resilient covering.
Particularly practical: the floor can be laid continuously, even on stairs. This is where the flexibility and precision with which the material can be processed is particularly evident. Clean step edges, a smooth appearance without offsets and a pleasant feel make all the difference.
Suitable for everyday use in every respect
Vinyl floors are ideal for living rooms, public areas and reception zones, but also for bathrooms, kitchens and staircases. The surface is water-resistant, scratch-resistant and can be cleaned with standard household cleaners.
The issue of dirt traps is also important in everyday life. Just a few steps on a well-placed clean-off zone in the entrance area prevent fine dirt and moisture from being carried onto the surface. This keeps the floor looking good for longer and saves cleaning effort.
Why it makes sense to bond the vinyl over the entire surface
In this project, the floor was fully glued down. This type of installation ensures that the floor lies flat, there are no hollow areas and the flooring does not slip, even with heavy use. Particularly with large tile-look formats, the appearance is calmer and of higher quality when the floor is fully bonded to the subfloor.
For particularly sensitive areas such as stairs, edges or transitions between different zones, bonded installation is almost always the better solution. You can find more information on professional installation in our Overview of floor projects with different materials.
Conclusion: Laying vinyl flooring with a tile look is worthwhile
The project in Kerzers shows how aesthetic appeal and suitability for everyday use can be combined. If you are looking for a floor that looks modern, is pleasant to walk on and will continue to impress for years to come, vinyl with a tile look is the right choice. Thanks to its low installation height, the floor is also ideal for renovations, for example in existing residential or office buildings, without the need to shorten doors or laboriously remove subfloors.
