Old floors tell stories. They bear the traces of times gone by and give a room character and depth. But preserving these historical treasures requires a sure instinct, experience and the right materials. Our flooring team mastered precisely this challenge in the Frohheim Murten, where they refurbished a 100-year-old castle parquet covering an area of 102 m² and protected it with a particularly resistant sealant.
Precision for a floor of the century
From the February 3 to 12, 2025 the historic parquet was sanded with great care to restore its original beauty. As the Frohheim is used as a restaurant, it was clear that the floor not only had to look good, but also withstand the daily wear and tear of a heavily frequented area.
For this reason, we deliberately opted for a 2-component sealant. Compared to a conventional 1-component sealant, this variant offers significantly greater durability and protects the wood from wear, moisture and mechanical influences. This solution is essential for long-term value retention, especially in a restaurant where the floor is subject to heavy daily use.
Preserving tradition - securing the future
The preservation of such an old parquet floor is more than just a renovation - it is a tribute to the history of the building. Thanks to the close cooperation with our project partner Immoschwab Murten, we were able to find a solution that combines tradition and modern technology. The floor not only remains a visual highlight, but also withstands the demands of a lively restaurant business.
With this refurbishment, we have not only preserved a historical treasure, but also secured its future. A floor that continues to tell stories - and will accompany guests at Frohheim Murten for many years to come.
