Back on solid ground with Tanadur at ESA in Burgdorf

Back again at ESA in Burgdorf. Tanadur was already used at ESA in Burgdorf three and four years ago. Another renovation phase followed in 2026 on an existing storage area. This time, an important part of the work was beneath the later visible surface: existing cavities first had to be located and repaired.

Prepare existing floor for Tanadur

During a renovation of existing buildings, the condition of the existing floor determines the further construction. On the storage area at ESA therefore, damaged areas were recorded and inspected first.

Hollow spaces could not simply be reworked. The affected areas were opened, loose or no longer structurally sound areas were removed, and subsequently repaired.

After the renovation came the bonding primer. It prepared the existing substrate for the subsequent wearing course. The buildup of bonding primer and industrial flooring coating is also documented in the project documentation for the storage area.

Tanadur as a new wearing course

Onto the prepared substrate was Tanadur installed. The flowable flooring is intended for indoor use and, according to the product information, can be applied in layer thicknesses of 6 to 18 millimeters. There is no information available regarding the actual layer thickness applied at ESA.

After 28 days, Tanadur achieves a compressive strength of more than 38 N/mm² and a flexural tensile strength of more than 10 N/mm². Partial loading is possible after just one day, and full load-bearing capacity after seven days. This creates a new wearing course on the rehabilitated existing structure for the storage area at ESA in Burgdorf.

Installation of the flowable topping

During installation, Tanadur is distributed over the primed surface and further processed during application. The material quantity, substrate, and workflow must be coordinated with one another.

After installation, the flowable topping forms a seamless surface. What remains visible at the end as the finished industrial floor is built upon the previously performed renovation work.

Especially with existing areas, a large part of the work therefore goes into steps that are no longer visible after the project is completed.

Third stage at ESA in Burgdorf

For our team, the 2026 renovation was already the third phase at ESA. Two other areas were completed three and four years ago.

The storage areas were thus gradually renewed over several years. The fact that we were on site again for another phase continues our previous collaboration.

From the testing of the existing floor, the repair of hollow spots and priming to the installation of Tanadur, another repaired storage area was thus created at the Burgdorf location.
