In an impressive five-month project, our team of experts from Pegrila AG, part of the Weiss+Appetito Group, realized the pioneering floor of the goods handling area for the new Schilthorn cable car. This engineering achievement marks a milestone in alpine infrastructure development and underlines our leading position in the field of sophisticated concrete solutions.
As part of the pioneering SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX project, we at Weiss+Appetito have once again demonstrated our expertise. Our concrete specialists at Pegrila AG mastered challenges that would have done James Bond proud: extreme cold, unexpected water ingress and logistical feats in transporting materials by cable car.
Our dedicated team mastered these tasks with flying colors. In over 1,865 working hours, we created 1040 square meters of highly innovative UHPC concrete and UHFB UA concrete that can withstand the toughest alpine conditions. This flooring is at the heart of a future-oriented goods handling service in the Alps and sets new standards for efficient goods handling areas in mountain regions.
The solution we have developed goes far beyond conventional concrete work. It forms the basis for a revolutionary logistics service that optimizes both the flow of visitors and the transport of goods. This underlines our role as an innovation leader in alpine infrastructure development.
Our involvement in this project also reflects the values of Weiss+Appetito: we focus on sustainable, regional value creation. By working closely with local partners, we are actively helping to strengthen the economy in the Bernese Oberland.
We are proud to have made a significant contribution to the modernization of this iconic mountain railroad with our expertise and look forward to continuing to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges in the Alpine region in the future.
