At Negishi x Miss Miu in PostParc Bern, sushi, ramen, dumplings, and Asian cuisine meet an urban restaurant ambiance. Lots of wood, warm colors, light, movement, and a place situated right in the middle of the city's everyday life. Today, everything looks finished and natural. Shortly before, there was little to see of it.
Before guests could take their seats, the floor had to be right. The existing subfloor was dismantled, prepared, and rebuilt. For a restaurant in the PostParc, there's little room for error. The interior finishing is tightly scheduled, the next trades are waiting, and each step builds on the previous one.
First preparation, then atmosphere
After the sub-surface preparation, Prima-Sol took over the installation of the new subfloor. The area was insulated, leveled, and constructed with a fast-setting, resin-modified cement screed.
The leveling was particularly important. In a restaurant, subsequent floor coverings, fixtures, furniture, and connections must fit perfectly. Small unevennesses quickly become apparent, especially during renovations in existing buildings. They can later interfere with doors, transitions, or built-in fixtures.
The fast-setting concrete pavement helped keep waiting times short. This was important in the tight construction schedule at PostParc Bern. The area could be processed quickly, so that the interior work could continue without unnecessary breaks.
The foundation for a vibrant restaurant
Today, when you enter Negishi x Miss Miu, you're more likely to think about the first plate on the table than the floor beneath it. That's exactly how it should be. The room thrives on its ambiance, its kitchen, its lighting, and the people moving within it.
For this daily operation to work, clean manual labor is needed in the background. During the expansion at PostParc Bern, the work of Minova and Prima Sol dovetailed directly. First, the subfloor was prepared and ground. This was followed by insulation, leveling, and the new screed.
This is how the foundation was laid for a restaurant that experiences a lot of activity daily and is intended to appear completely natural in the process.
